Nam Phan did not fight on May 3rd because an opponent was not able to be found. Instead, he'll be fighting Andrew Stafford at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello for All Star Boxing Promotions.

Summary: "Nam Phan 2nd Best in the West"

Round 1. Nam Phan vs Mua Toliver : 4-2

The rounds started with Toliver getting the first two points by attacking the
low single leg takedown. PHan then tries to work attacks from the guard,
but Toliver defended Phan's attacks very well. Phan attempts an
armbar-triangle submission, but Toliver slipped out and the two started back up
on their feet. Phan then attempted the double leg takedowns, but
everytime Phan took Toliver down, Toliver quickly wizzarred out and
the two would starts on their feet. With one minute left of the six
minute out round Toliver attempted a double leg take down of his own, but
Phan sprawled out, circled to the back and put his hooks in for the four
points. The match ended with Phan taking control of Toliver's back for the
rest of the round.

Round 2. Nam Phan vs Cub Swanson: 6-2

The round started with the two circling each other, Phan quickly went for the
double leg takedown and Swanson immediately slapped on a tight ten finger
guillotine. Phan, with much difficulty, escaped Swanson's guillotine and was
rewarded two points for the takedown. Swanson escaped off of the bottom and
Phan attempted another takedown. Swanson then tried for a standing guillotine
and has Phan trapped while gasping for air. Phan barely fought off the hands
of Swanson and freed himself from the guillotine. Swanson attempted a single leg
takedown of his own and Phans dove for a kneebar then transitioned to a
toe-hold. Swanson defended the leg attacks successfully and the ref awarded
Swanson two points. The two went back on their feet, Phan attempted another
takedown and Swanson slapped on another ten finger guillotine, Phan, this time,
quickly fought the hands of Swanson, escaped out of the choke, and was
awarded another two points for the takedown. With time running out, Swanson
went for a body lock takedown, Phan repositioned to an over/under grip
and reversed Swanson with a literal throw and Phan earned another two points
for the takedown. The match ended with Phan in Swanson's guard.

Round 3 Nam Phan vs Noah Tillis: 4-2

The match started off with Tillis wasting no time immediately rushed Phan off
of the mat. The two restarted the match back in the center of the mat and
Tillis took Phan down with a fast power doouble leg takedown. Tillis stayed
tight in Phan guards while Phan continued to attack submissions. As Phan
attempted a submission on Tillis, Tillis slipped out and the match restarted
back on their feet.The two showed great wrestling while they were trying to take each other
down, but both men were unsuccessful, defending each others takedowns. Tillis
finally locked up a body lock takedown on Phan, Phan quickly
switched to an over/under grip, and lateral throws Tillis for the two points.
Phan landed in Tillis guard and worked for the guard escape, the two
started back up on their feet again. With ten seconds left in the match, with
the score being 2-2, Phan went for the takedown and the match ended with Phan
in Tillis's half guard.

Final Round 4 Nam Phan vs Ryan Hall: Phan tapouts in 1: 35 seconds

Hall immediately pulled guard and Phan went for the guard pass. Hall
quickly recovered the full guard. Phan worked for the triangle escape, but
hall pulled on Phan's head and stuffed his fist into Phan's throat causing
Phan to tap out.

Possible boxing match for May 3rd

Nam Phan may be professionally boxing at a private show in Irvine. The private show is hosted by the same promotion as The Battle of the Ballroom. An opponent has not yet been determined for Phan to fight, but please check back for more information. Phan will be fighting at the weight class of 154 lbs.
